Shalom, Mitspacha!
Charity with dignity
“If there is among you a poor man, one of your brothers… you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother.”
- Devarim (Deuteronomy) 15:7
YHVH commands us to care for the needy in a way that preserves their dignity. True charity is not only giving resources, but giving with respect, compassion, and sensitivity — without shame, humiliation, or superiority.
The goal is restoration, not dependency; support, not control; generosity, not self-glory.
Today we consider:
Charity that reflects YHVH’s heart honors the person, not only the need.
YHVH Elohim, soften our hearts toward those in need. Guard us from pride, judgment, or indifference. Teach us to give wisely, kindly, and generously — in a way that restores hope and dignity. May our hands mirror Your mercy and Your justice.
Baruch YHVH.
Shalom until tomorrow.
