Prohibition of showing favoritism in judgment
“You shall do no unrighteousness in right-ruling. Do not be partial to the poor or favor the face of the great, but judge your neighbor in righteousness.”

YHVH commands that judgment be exercised without favoritism or prejudice. Justice must not be influenced by wealth, status, power, popularity, family connections, social standing, or personal preferences. True righteousness evaluates matters according to truth rather than according to the identity or position of those involved.
The people of YHVH are called to reflect His character by treating others fairly and impartially. Righteous judgment protects the vulnerable, restrains corruption, and strengthens trust within the community.
Favoritism often appears subtly. People may be inclined to support those they know, admire, fear, or benefit from while judging others more harshly. Such partiality distorts justice and prevents clear discernment. Scripture reminds us that YHVH does not judge by outward appearance but by truth.
Consider whether your judgments, opinions, and decisions are influenced by personal preferences or external factors. A heart devoted to YHVH seeks fairness even when it is uncomfortable and chooses truth even when it challenges existing loyalties. Impartiality reflects both wisdom and integrity.
Abba YHVH, teach us to judge with fairness, wisdom, and integrity. Guard us from favoritism, prejudice, and partiality that distort truth and justice. Help us to see others as You see them and to evaluate matters according to righteousness rather than outward appearances. Strengthen us to walk in honesty, humility, and discernment so that our decisions bring honor to Your Name and blessing to those around us.
