Prohibition of cursing judges or leaders
“You do not revile Elohim, nor curse a ruler of your people.”

“Let every being be in subjection to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from Elohim, and the authorities that exist are appointed by Elohim.”
- Romiyim (Romans) 13:1
YHVH commands His people to show respect toward those entrusted with positions of authority. Judges, leaders, and rulers carry responsibilities that affect the well-being of communities and nations. While leaders are accountable before YHVH for their actions, the people are instructed to conduct themselves with respect and restraint rather than with contempt, insults, or curses.
This command does not require agreement with every decision made by leaders. Rather, it teaches that disagreement should be expressed in a manner consistent with righteousness, self-control, and respect for the authority structures established by YHVH.
In times of political tension, social unrest, or disagreement, it is easy for frustration to turn into disrespectful speech. Modern communication platforms often encourage harsh criticism, mockery, and personal attacks against leaders and public officials. Scripture calls believers to a higher standard.
Respectful conduct reflects trust in YHVH’s sovereignty. Even when leaders fail, YHVH remains in control and continues to hold every person accountable. Consider whether your words regarding leaders, employers, elders, teachers, or other authority figures reflect wisdom and self-control. Speaking with integrity honors both YHVH and the principles of righteous conduct.
Abba YHVH, teach us to speak with wisdom, restraint, and respect. Guard our hearts from bitterness, contempt, and careless speech toward those in positions of authority. Help us to uphold righteousness while maintaining integrity in our words and actions. Grant wisdom to leaders, judges, and rulers, and guide them to act with justice and humility. Let our conduct reflect trust in Your sovereignty and confidence in Your righteous judgment.
