Respect for lawful authority
“Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work.”

“Let every being be in subjection to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from Elohim, and the authorities that exist are appointed by Elohim.”
- Romiyim (Romans) 13:1
YHVH establishes order within families, communities, and nations through lawful authority. Authority carries responsibility and accountability before Elohim, while those under authority are instructed to show respect, cooperation, and obedience in matters that do not conflict with the commands of YHVH.
Respect for lawful authority promotes stability, peace, and good order within society. While human leaders are imperfect, the principle of authority itself reflects YHVH’s design for orderly living and responsible stewardship.
Modern culture often encourages resistance to authority, especially when disagreement arises. While there are times when believers must remain faithful to YHVH above human commands, Scripture teaches that respect should remain even when differences exist. Respectful conduct demonstrates maturity, wisdom, and trust in YHVH’s ultimate sovereignty.
Consider the authorities present in your life, including parents, employers, teachers, elders, community leaders, and government officials. Do your attitudes and actions reflect respect and integrity? Honoring lawful authority strengthens character and reflects a willingness to walk according to the order established by YHVH.
Abba YHVH, teach us to honor lawful authority with wisdom, humility, and integrity. Help us to respect those entrusted with responsibility and to conduct ourselves in ways that promote peace and righteousness. Grant discernment when challenges arise and give us courage to remain faithful to Your truth above all else. Guide leaders to govern with justice and wisdom, and let our lives reflect respect for the order You have established.
