Justice β Moral Responsibility / Prohibition of Exploiting Ignorance
"Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour."
- Vayikra (Leviticus) 19:15
"Thou shalt not put a stumblingblock before the blind, but shalt fear thy Elohim: I am YHVH."
- Vayikra (Leviticus) 19:14
The Torah teaches that justice must be applied with fairness and integrity. A judge or counselor must not favor the poor out of pity nor the powerful out of fear or respect. True justice requires impartiality. Every person stands equal before the righteousness of YHVH.
Moral responsibility means that we examine our decisions carefully. Our judgments and actions influence the well-being of others. When we walk in fairness and truth, we reflect the character of the One who established justice as the foundation of His Torah.
The commandment against placing a stumbling block before the blind is also a warning not to take advantage of another person's lack of knowledge. Exploiting ignorance - whether through deception, manipulation, or selfish gain - violates the spirit of the Torah.
YHVH calls His people to protect, guide, and uplift others. Instead of taking advantage of someoneβs weakness or misunderstanding, we are called to act with compassion and honesty.
Justice and compassion must walk together. True righteousness does not seek personal advantage but seeks the good of others. Ask yourself:
Walking in righteousness means protecting the dignity and well-being of others.
Abba YHVH, as we prepare for the holy Shabbat, we come before You with humble hearts. Teach us to walk in justice, honesty, and compassion toward others. May our actions reflect Your righteousness and may our lives become instruments of peace and blessing.
We pray for peace in Middle East, South Africa and the world. May YHVH bring wisdom to leaders and calm to troubled regions so that peace and stability may grow among nations.
We pray for end-time revival. May hearts across the world turn back to YHVH with sincerity, seeking righteousness and truth.
We pray for the elderly, especially those subject to abuse and neglect. May they be protected, respected, and cared for with dignity and compassion.
We pray for the farmers, especially those in danger of attacks. May YHVH protect them, strengthen their communities, and grant them safety in their daily work.
We pray for people living in disaster stricken areas, especially in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. May YHVH bring relief, restoration, and provision for those who are suffering loss and hardship.
We pray for evangelists all over the world, especially in those countries where they are persecuted. May YHVH strengthen and protect them as they proclaim His truth.
We pray for ill people, especially those with cancer and new viral diseases that are spreading like wildfires. May YHVH grant healing, comfort, and renewed strength to those who are suffering.
We pray for the coming tribulation as the signs of the birth pains are here already. May YHVH prepare the hearts of His people to stand firm in faith and righteousness.
We pray for our ministry (Derech Olam Ministries). May YHVH guide the work, strengthen its mission, and allow it to be a light that leads many toward truth.
Baruch YHVH.
Shalom until tomorrow.
