Shalom, Mitspacha!
Fairness in trade and agreements
"You shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in meteyard, in weight, or in measure. Just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall you have: I am YHVH your Elohim, which brought you out of the land of Mitsrayim."
— Wayyiqra (Leviticus) 19:35-36
Today we focus on the command to maintain absolute integrity in our commerce and our covenants with others. This includes not only physical weights and measures but the honesty of our words in every contract and verbal agreement we make.
When we deal fairly in our business and personal agreements, we demonstrate our trust in YHVH as our ultimate Provider. Any form of deception in trade suggests a belief that our gain comes from our own "cleverness" or manipulation rather than His blessing.
True righteousness is found in the transparency of our dealings when no one but Elohim is watching.
Abba YHVH, grant us hearts of absolute integrity as we begin this new week. Let our "yes" be "yes" and our "no" be "no." May our dealings with our neighbors, our colleagues, and our community reflect Your righteousness and truth, acknowledging that You see every exchange and honor those who walk uprightly.
Baruch YHVH.
Shalom until tomorrow.
