Shalom, Mishpacha!
Prohibition of coveting
"Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because Elohim has said, 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'"
- Hebrews 13:5
"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
- Matthew 6:21
"But godliness with contentment is great gain."
- 1 Timothy 6:6
We are commanded not to covet - not to desire what belongs to another. Coveting begins in the heart and leads to discontent, comparison, and ultimately disobedience. YHVH calls His people to live in contentment, trusting in His provision and rejecting the pull of worldly desire.
Is there anything you are longing for that does not belong to you? Has comparison taken root in your thoughts or desires?
Today is a call to realign your heart - to release all coveting and to walk in gratitude for what YHVH has already provided.
Today is Day 31 of the Omer. As we continue this journey of refinement, we are reminded that contentment guards the heart against coveting.
Each day drawing us deeper into trust, gratitude, and alignment with YHVH.
Avinu Malkeinu, search our hearts and reveal any hidden coveting within us. Teach us to be content with what You have given, and to trust fully in Your provision. Remove every spirit of comparison and desire for what is not ours. Establish in us a heart of gratitude and obedience before You.
Baruch YHVH.
Shalom until tomorrow.
