Shalom, Mishpacha!
Discipline of desire
"Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control."
- Mishlei (Proverbs) 25:28
"For the grace of Elohim has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age."
- Titus 2:11-12
"Those who belong to Yahusha HaMashiach have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires."
- Galatians 5:24
We are called to discipline our desires and not be ruled by them. Desire itself is not the problem - but when it is left unchecked, it leads to sin and separation from YHVH. The mitzvah is to bring every desire into submission, aligning it with His will and instruction.
Self-control is an act of obedience. It requires awareness, restraint, and intentional alignment with what is right in the eyes of YHVH.
Are your desires leading you, or are you leading them under the authority of YHVH?
Today is a call to examine what drives your decisions - to take authority over impulses, and to walk in discipline and obedience.
Today is Day 32 of the Omer. As we continue this journey of refinement, we are reminded that disciplined desire strengthens our walk and guards us from falling into compromise.
Each day drawing us deeper into mastery, obedience, and alignment with YHVH.
Avinu Malkeinu, teach us to discipline our desires and to walk in self-control. Reveal where we have allowed impulses to lead us, and restore proper order within us. Strengthen us to say no to what is not from You, and to pursue what is righteous. Establish in us a heart that is aligned, obedient, and steadfast before You.
Baruch YHVH.
Shalom until tomorrow.
