Shalom, Mishpacha!
The renewed moon has now entered visible crescent phase and the transition into the new month is confirmed. Although no formal South African sighting report was publicly issued, astronomical visibility conditions strongly supported visibility from the Western Cape on the evening of May 18. The Muslim community also completed a full 30th day before entering the new month, bringing the practical calendar alignment into agreement.
Prohibition of favoring the powerful
"You shall not show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small as well as the great; you shall not be afraid in any man's presence, for the judgment is Elohim's."
- Devarim (Deuteronomy) 1:17
"You shall do no injustice in judgment. You shall not be partial to the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty. In righteousness you shall judge your neighbor."
- Vayikra (Leviticus) 19:15
"It is not good to show partiality to the wicked, or to overthrow the righteous in judgment."
- Mishlei (Proverbs) 18:5
"My brothers, do not hold the faith of our Master Yahusha HaMashiach, the Master of glory, with partiality."
- James 2:1
YHVH commands justice without favoritism. Wealth, influence, status, authority, or fear of powerful people must never corrupt righteous judgment or truthful decision-making.
True covenant justice requires impartiality, integrity, courage, and obedience to truth regardless of social standing or worldly power.
Are there situations where fear, pressure, influence, or admiration for powerful people affects your judgment or decisions?
Today reminds us that righteousness demands fairness and consistency. We are called to stand firmly in truth, neither oppressed by the powerful nor swayed by status, reputation, or influence.
Today is Day 47 of the Omer. As the counting continues, we are reminded that spiritual maturity requires disciplined integrity and faithful refinement in both judgment and conduct.
Each day of the Omer calls us to greater alignment with the justice, holiness, and righteousness of YHVH.
Avinu Malkeinu, guard our hearts from favoritism, fear, and compromise. Teach us to judge rightly, act justly, and walk faithfully in truth regardless of pressure or influence. Establish within us integrity, courage, humility, and obedience so that our lives may reflect Your righteousness in all things.
Baruch YHVH.
Shalom until tomorrow.
