✨ THEMES

Devotion rooted in obedience / Kingdoms and faith — Dani’el (Daniel)

🤲🏻 OPENING PRAYER

YHVH, our Elohim, we come before You with gratitude as we enter this Shabbat. Set our hearts apart for You. Teach us to understand that genuine devotion is not merely expressed through words, but demonstrated through obedience, faithfulness, and a willingness to walk in Your ways.

Open our understanding as we study Your Word. Strengthen us to remain faithful when the demands of the world challenge our covenant allegiance. May our thoughts, words, and actions honour You. In the Name of Yahusha HaMashiach. Emet.

🍞 COMMUNION

As we share in the bread and the cup, let us remember the covenant and the sacrifice of Yahusha HaMashiach. May this remembrance renew our commitment to walk faithfully before YHVH, with clean hearts and obedient lives.

Let us examine ourselves, put aside what defiles, and approach this remembrance with reverence and gratitude.

📘 TORAH READING

"You shall guard the commands of YHVH your Elohim, to walk in His ways and to revere Him."
- Devarim (Deuteronomy) 8:6

"Now, O Yisra’el, what is YHVH your Elohim asking of you, but to revere YHVH your Elohim, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, and to serve YHVH your Elohim with all your heart and with all your being,
to guard the commands of YHVH and His laws which I am commanding you today for your good?"
- Devarim (Deuteronomy) 10:12–13

"Shaḏraḵ, Mĕyshaḵ, and Aḇĕḏ-Neḡo answered and said to the sovereign, ‘O Neḇuḵaḏnetstsar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.
For if so, our Elah whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning furnace of fire and from your hand, O sovereign - He delivers!
But if not, let it be known to you, O sovereign, that we do not serve your mighty ones, nor do we do obeisance to the gold image which you have put up.’"
- Dani’el (Daniel) 3:16–18

📖 MESSAGE

Devotion rooted in obedience

Devotion to YHVH is not measured merely by what we say, how often we speak about our faith, or how strongly we express our beliefs. Genuine devotion is demonstrated through obedience. It is reflected in the decisions we make, the standards we uphold, and the willingness to remain faithful even when obedience carries a cost.

The account of Dani’el and his companions provides a powerful example. They were placed under the authority of a foreign kingdom, surrounded by demands that challenged their allegiance to Elohim. When commanded to bow before the golden image, they refused. Their answer was not based on the certainty that they would escape the consequences. They declared that Elohim was able to deliver them, but even if He did not, they would not bow.

This is the foundation of genuine faithfulness: obedience is not conditional upon the outcome we desire. We do not obey YHVH only when obedience is convenient, safe, or rewarded. We obey because He is Elohim, because His instructions are righteous, and because our covenant allegiance belongs to Him.

Their example also reminds us that earthly authority has limits. A kingdom may demand conformity, but it cannot rightfully claim the devotion that belongs to YHVH. Human power may threaten consequences, but it does not determine what is right. Our responsibility is to discern where obedience to human demands would require disobedience to Elohim.

Faithfulness is also established in ordinary daily choices. It is not only demonstrated in moments of public pressure or dramatic testing. It is cultivated through consistent obedience: in our speech, our conduct, our relationships, our work, and the way we treat others. Small compromises can gradually weaken our resolve, while daily faithfulness strengthens it.

Let us therefore examine the foundation of our devotion. Are we obeying because we love YHVH, or only when it suits us? Do we remain faithful when others disagree, when the consequences are uncomfortable, or when no one is watching? Do our actions reflect the covenant allegiance we profess?

May the example of Dani’el and his companions strengthen us to stand firm. Let our devotion be rooted in obedience, our obedience grounded in love, and our faithfulness unwavering regardless of the kingdoms and powers surrounding us.

🤲🏻 CLOSING PRAYER

YHVH, our Elohim, thank You for the examples of faithfulness preserved in Your Word. Strengthen us to stand firm as Dani’el and his companions did. May we never exchange our covenant allegiance for comfort, acceptance, security, or earthly approval.

Teach us to obey You in the ordinary matters of life as faithfully as we would in moments of great testing. Give discernment to those who carry responsibility in their families, communities, and places of leadership. Guide parents as they teach their children, and strengthen children to grow in wisdom and reverence.

We ask for wisdom for rulers and decision-makers, and for justice and peace among the nations. Remember those suffering through conflict in the Middle East, those who are displaced, and those who live under oppression. Protect farmers and all who work to provide food. Strengthen those who teach, proclaim, and share Your Word.

Bring comfort to the ill, the grieving, the lonely, and all who are enduring hardship. Prepare Your people to remain faithful through every trial and testing. Strengthen Derech Olam Mishkan International to serve You with integrity, discernment, and obedience.

May this Shabbat be a time of genuine rest, renewal, and deeper devotion to You. Let our lives bear witness to our allegiance to YHVH. In the Name of Yahusha HaMashiach. Emet.
