Justice - protecting sacred bonds
“Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh.”

“Marriage is precious among all, and the marriage bed undefiled; but those who commit whoring and adulterers Elohim shall judge.”

Justice within a family begins with recognising that sacred bonds carry responsibilities. Marriage is not merely a private arrangement between two people. Scripture presents the marriage covenant as a relationship that deserves honour, faithfulness and protection.
The Torah therefore prohibits adultery because betrayal of the marriage covenant causes deep harm. Adultery violates trust, disregards the dignity of the covenant partner and can destabilise the family structure built upon that covenant.
Protecting sacred bonds also means treating people with justice rather than using relationships for personal advantage. A husband and wife are not possessions to control, manipulate or exploit. Each bears the image of Elohim and must be treated with dignity and responsibility.
Justice also requires us to distinguish between protecting a sacred bond and concealing wrongdoing. Faithfulness never requires a person to remain silent about abuse, coercion or serious injustice. Protecting what is sacred includes protecting people from harm.
YHVH's standards therefore call us to cultivate honesty, self-control, faithfulness and respect. Sacred bonds become stronger when those within them understand that their words, choices and actions carry consequences for others.
Where YHVH has entrusted us with relationships of covenant, He also entrusts us with responsibilities of care. Justice is not only about responding to wrongdoing after it occurs. It also involves guarding the conditions that allow trust and faithfulness to flourish.
Marriage requires more than avoiding adultery. It requires daily faithfulness - keeping one's word, respecting one's spouse, communicating honestly and refusing to allow selfish desires to override covenant responsibility.
The same principle extends beyond marriage. Families, friendships and communities depend upon trust. When sacred or deeply meaningful bonds are treated casually, the resulting damage can spread far beyond the original offence.
Yahusha HaMashiach calls His people to a deeper righteousness that begins within the heart. Therefore we should examine not only our outward conduct but also the desires, attitudes and intentions that influence our decisions.
May we become people who protect what YHVH has entrusted to us. May our faithfulness be visible not merely when circumstances are easy, but especially when temptation, conflict or pressure tests our commitment.
Heavenly Father, YHVH, thank You for the sacred bonds and relationships You have entrusted to us. Teach us to honour them with justice, faithfulness, wisdom and self-control.
Protect marriages from adultery, deception, manipulation and betrayal. Strengthen husbands and wives to treat one another with dignity, honesty and respect.
Give parents wisdom to teach their children the value of covenant, faithfulness and responsible relationships. Help children to understand that trust is precious and must not be treated carelessly.
Protect those who are vulnerable to abuse, coercion or exploitation. Give them courage to seek safety and bring trustworthy people around them who will respond with wisdom and justice.
Help us to examine our own hearts and reject desires that could lead us into unfaithfulness. Teach us to guard our thoughts, our words and our actions so that we do not damage the sacred bonds entrusted to us.
Strengthen families and communities to become places where truth, justice, faithfulness and mutual respect are upheld. Help us to protect what is sacred without concealing wrongdoing or permitting injustice to continue.
May our lives honour You by reflecting the faithfulness of Your covenant.
