The renewed moon was sighted last night at 18h28 SAST by members of the Muslim community and by a Messianic believer from Brits. The renewed moon has therefore been CONFIRMED, and today is Shevi'i 1, 6028 AA — Yom Teru'ah Day 1, the first day of the seventh month.
The extended waiting period has now come to an end. We did not declare what had not been witnessed, and we give thanks to YHVH that the renewed moon has finally been seen and the appointed time can now be observed according to the sighting.
Prohibition of sexual immorality
Heavenly Father, YHVH, we come before You on this special Shabbat with grateful hearts. Thank You for bringing us into the seventh month and for allowing the renewed moon to be witnessed so that we may recognise this appointed time.
Thank You for Your Torah, Your instruction and Your faithfulness. After days of waiting and uncertainty, we are reminded that Your appointed times do not depend upon our assumptions. Teach us to watch carefully, wait patiently and respond faithfully when what You have established becomes visible.
As we enter Yom Teru'ah, awaken our hearts. Turn our attention away from the distractions and corruption of the world and back toward Your ways. Give us courage to examine our conduct, wisdom to recognise what must be removed and humility to return to what is righteous.
May this special Shabbat be a time of awakening, repentance and renewed commitment to holiness. Prepare us to hear Your call and to walk faithfully before You.

We remember Yahusha HaMashiach and the covenant represented through His body and blood. As we partake, let us remember that covenant is not merely a declaration of belief. It calls us to a life of obedience, faithfulness and transformation. Yom Teru'ah calls us to awaken. Let us therefore examine the areas of our lives where sin, compromise or misplaced desires have weakened our walk with YHVH.
May this remembrance turn our hearts toward repentance rather than self-justification. May we reject what is corrupt, restore what has been neglected and walk more faithfully in the covenant entrusted to us.
Yom Teru'ah begins with awakening. The sighting of the renewed moon marks the beginning of the seventh month, but the physical sign should also prompt a spiritual response. After the uncertainty of the past days, we have now witnessed what we were waiting for. We did not declare the beginning of the month before the renewed moon was seen. We waited, watched and remained willing to adjust according to what was actually witnessed.
That same principle applies to our spiritual lives. We should not merely assume that everything is right between ourselves and YHVH. We must examine our conduct honestly and allow His Torah to reveal where correction is necessary.
The prohibition of sexual immorality reminds us that holiness includes the way we conduct ourselves in the most private areas of life. Sexual desire is not outside the authority of YHVH. Torah establishes boundaries because human relationships, bodies and covenant responsibilities are sacred. Sexual immorality is therefore not simply a private matter without consequence. It can damage individuals, marriages, families and communities. What may be normalised by society can still be contrary to the order established by YHVH.
Holiness requires restraint. It requires us to distinguish between desire and permission, between temptation and obedience, and between what society accepts and what YHVH has commanded. Yom Teru'ah therefore provides an appropriate moment for self-examination. What has become normal in our lives that should no longer be accepted? Where have we allowed desire to override obedience? Where have we substituted cultural approval for Torah faithfulness?
Awakening means becoming alert again. It means recognising what we may have ignored. It means allowing truth to disturb our comfort when necessary. It means refusing to hide behind appearances when YHVH sees the heart. The renewed moon has been witnessed. The appointed time has arrived. Now the question is whether we are spiritually awake enough to respond.
May this Yom Teru'ah awaken us from complacency, call us back from compromise and strengthen us to worship YHVH with integrity.
Yom Teru'ah Day 1 calls us to awaken to the presence, authority and kingship of YHVH.
The sounding of the teru'ah is a call to attention. It reminds us that YHVH is King and that His people are not free to live according to every desire, custom or command of the surrounding nations.
Awakening requires attention. We must listen when correction comes, recognise when our conduct has drifted and respond while there is still opportunity to return. The seventh month begins with a renewed awareness of YHVH's appointed order. The renewed moon has been seen, the day has been confirmed, and we now enter this appointed time with thanksgiving and seriousness.
May the awakening of Yom Teru'ah reach beyond this single day. May it awaken our conscience, renew our obedience and remind us that YHVH's kingship extends over every part of our lives.
Heavenly Father, YHVH, thank You for bringing us into Yom Teru'ah Day 1 and for allowing the renewed moon to be witnessed. Thank You for the patience You have taught us during the waiting period. Keep us from presumption and teach us always to recognise what is witnessed rather than declaring what has not yet been seen.
Awaken our hearts before You. Search us and reveal every place where compromise, impurity, disobedience or misplaced desire has entered our lives. Give us strength to reject sexual immorality and every form of conduct that violates Your Torah. Protect our marriages, families and communities from the damage caused by unrestrained desire and moral corruption.
Teach us to worship You not merely with words, but through obedient lives. Give us humility to repent when we have done wrong, courage to make necessary changes and wisdom to restore what can be restored.
As we continue through the appointed times of the seventh month, keep our hearts attentive. Let the call of Yom Teru'ah awaken us to Your kingship and prepare us for every appointed time that follows.
We pray for those struggling with temptation, those recovering from the consequences of sexual immorality, those whose families have been damaged by unfaithfulness, and those seeking to return to righteous conduct. Give them strength, wisdom, protection and genuine repentance.
We pray for our families and communities, that they may be guarded from corruption and strengthened in righteousness.
We pray for those who are suffering, discouraged or spiritually weary. Awaken hope in them and give them endurance to continue walking faithfully.
May this special Shabbat produce lasting fruit in us. Let our worship be sincere, our repentance genuine and our obedience steadfast.
